Job Description: Drug Safety Physician
ICON is currently hiring a Drug Safety Physician to strengthen its pharmacovigilance team in Chennai. This role involves delivering expert medical and safety oversight for clinical trials and marketed products, ensuring adherence to global regulatory and ethical standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct medical assessment of adverse events (AEs) and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) for causality, expectedness, and seriousness.
- Review and interpret aggregate safety reports such as PSURs, DSURs, and PBRERs to identify potential trends or safety signals.
- Provide clinical input and decision-making on safety issues across clinical and post-marketing phases.
- Support timely regulatory submissions of expedited and periodic safety reports from spontaneous sources, literature, and clinical trials.
- Participate in development of Core Data Sheets (CCDS), Product Information (PI), and global labeling updates.
- Guide and train safety teams on pharmacovigilance standards, including ICH GCP and GVP guidelines.
- Review project-specific safety documents and contribute to strategic safety planning with sponsors and internal teams.

Candidate Requirements
- Education: MBBS or MD from a recognized medical institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical practice (hospital-based experience preferred).

- Skills Needed:
- In-depth knowledge of MedDRA coding and pharmacovigilance principles.
- Understanding of global regulatory requirements (GCP, GVP).
